At the heart of Provenance is outstanding service and wood-fired, locally sourced seasonal British ingredients. This is the common thread running through all our venues.

Partners Kate Holden & Greg Proud first launched our ‘fast slow food’ venture ‘Provenance Kitchen’ in June 2015. Originally operating out of an airstream and converted horse box, we brought restaurant quality food to the streets of Cambridge, sticking to our roots of high-quality locally sourced produce.

In 2019, we opened up Brix + Mortar in Whittlesford, just outside of Cambridge – our first restaurant, where local suppliers and seasonal produce are key to the monthly changing menus. We like to keep it simple, so at the heart of Brix + Mortar is a brick built wood fired hearth serving best cuts of locally sourced meats, wood fired fish and vibrant vegetarian and vegan dishes.

In 2023 we continued to expand with a new flexible wedding and event space, ‘The Orchard Barn’, nestled alongside restaurant Brix + Mortar in beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. With a variety of flexible spaces for any occasion – from the open sided barn, orchard, sheep dip hang out, airstream bar, to traditional stretch tent, it’s the perfect venue to get creative and craft the event you want.

 

Renowned for using open fire, charcoal & Konro grills as our main cooking source, co-founder and chef, Greg Proud, explains:

“I thrive on the challenge of working with fire, so at the heart of all our venues is a brick-built wood fired hearth. We like to keep it simple, so adding wood as a final ingredient elevates our dishes to the next level.”
